One Man Oblivion

Journey into

one man oblivion

no more honest

than it need be

the open book

closes

and

when it opened

again

lo and behold

it found a true friend

all night

long

So, you figured it out

did ya?

 it was you

all along,

wasn’t it!

you were the one

who finally decided to break

out of the mold

think for yourself

and emote the way

you do

it opened up a brand new world

of ideas

and ways of seeing

but

don’t fear

It’s OK

we were both

fooled

by the masses

it’s in us to follow the crowd

and, seek their approval

and, think just like

they do

thereby believing

 there’s something wrong with us

when we don’t

comply with the

presumptive

norm

it’s the masquerade

we’ve all learned

to do

very well

to survive

and not

be true to ourselves

to hide behind that mask

in this phony

world

of

ours

after all, who in god’s creation

wants to be the loneliest man

in this world

standing alone

with

his own mind

completely intact

solely

responsible

for his own

thoughts and feelings

exposed to the entire world

of men who judge

and reject

instead of accept

and love unconditionally?
