Wrong

Life

in its

trickery

has

a stealthy

way of

proving

you wrong

when you are

so cocksure

you were right

life humbles

the strongest

of men

whittling them

down

with a sharp

axe

were we  put here

to grow enough pride

ego

and arrogance

to fill an entire

auditorium

for the purpose

of it chopped

down like a sturdy oak

in front of an audience

of men

who neither

laugh

nor

drop a single tear?

yet

in the place

of the fallen

oak

sprouts

a

beautiful

sapling

which

grows

ever so slowly

someday

casting

its own

great

shadow
