row boat, life is but a dream

Rowing my Boat Up the Stream

Doves drink from my birdbath

I think I will have a sip, too

after that atomic bomb aftermath

blast

lizards bathe in the warmth

holding on with their tiny

claws on the side of

my sunlit brick wall

don’t let the door hit me in my

A _ S

I’m not too bothered by it all.

at last,

I am not of this world anymore

just ‘hangin out

but,

I was sure a part of it before.

used to have to be a lot of things

that

I don’t have to be anymore…

keeping things at arm’s length

now

not chained to the plow

old and secluded

this must be how

I wanted it to be

all along.

imagine that.

now, that

‘friggin

mockingbird

mocks the hell out of me

to the end of my days…

and,

the grass keeps

growing.

So, I keep mowing.

life keeps going.

the universe keeps flowing…

the only thing I keep

knowing

rowing my boat

up the

stream is

I’m slowly

sinking

’cause life

is but a dream

(even though it seems real enough.)

nevertheless,

I keep on

rowing

even though

my

bucket

(noggin)

has

a hole in it

and

I’m

going down

underwater

fast.

Thank God

above

for kitties

below.

running out of time.

don’t have one thin dime.

is that such a crime?

‘movin kinda slow…

thanks to god above

and

the devil

below for

not letting me

in

that pit

of fiery

sin.

at least

not

quite

yet.
