Living in the Land of Neurosis

Living in the

land of neurosis

get that diagnosis

feeling very

comatosis.

don’t kill yourself

go take another
nap.

go kiss

your pap.

beer bottles

clanking together

toasting every

minute of it.

pop tart

smoking

in the squeaky old toaster.

pot belly pig

roasting in the

roaster.

hop aboard the

bumpy

freeway

roller coaster

and feel all that rage

like a rat caught

scurrying on his

exercise wheel.

hurry, hurry,

hurry,

cover the eyes

with two

fingers

blurry.

turn the tv

on

surprise

eat sweet

white lies.

feed the

ones who’ve

died.

fix your life

divorce the wife.

have

a stronger

drink

at the bar.

get drunk

buy a vintage car

and take a drive

on a narrow

mountain road

with a guy with

a knife standing

at the dead end

street.

pass out on a bed.

heaven and hell

tugs its rope

cinched around

your sweaty head.

Friday night

party

drags your

body

to that Monday morning work you

so frightfully dread.

it’s all in your mind

hangover

on Sunday

turning you blind.

make more money

spend it on

your Fairweather

friend sunny.

elevate to the

sublime.

Go to

Walmart

buy

more fluff

that rusts

and falls apart

in short time.

cry and not know why.

get happier.

never knowing

when you’re

gonna die.

follow all of

mental escapees out of

California

to where

there’s

no imaginary

tornadoes,

hurricanes

and cowboy

boots

in a tether

made in

this country,

for

a kitty or puppy would

never think of stabbing you

in the back

as fast as all those

phonies we used

to

call true friends.
