in my room

In my room poem by steven james humphreys

in my room we’re safe I walk down the hall kitty sees me leave he comes crying

he sits there looking at me from my room’s doorway as I walk to the other end of the hallway

he doesn’t stop ‘meowing’ for me but then my doggie also

wonders where I went and he walks out looking for me

he wears a diaper now

he’s old

he has incontinence

he can’t walk so good either

I round them all up and we go back to our sanctuary

I feel so grateful for my two devoted best friends in the world

we are all growing old together

I think

things will

be alright.
