invisible man

Invisible man poem by steven james humphreys

in the arms of nature

one can easily become an invisible man

I stand still on my patio

and straight above my head the hummingbirds feed without fear of me

they don’t notice me standing there silently

like a tree

like a weed

like a blade of grass

I become invisible

unlike the clouds

above the hummingbird

which keep drifting by

while I enjoy hearing

hummingbird chirps

buzzing wings

beholding their beauty

as they perch drinking their fill

at their leisure in peace.
