One leaf

One leaf poem by steven james humphreys

one leaf

caught my eye

floating down

from the tall tree

it fell like a rocking cradle

rocking from side to side

in the arms of the wind

and, then another

drifted down

then another

and a magical

calm whirlwind

appeared carrying them

into the

eye of heaven’s

sky like a

million

brown

red

and

yellow

fluttering

butterflies.
