hairy spiders

hairy spiders poem by steven james humphreys

trees are grabbing at me

the moon became a candle

a path I walked on was a snake

it was all my dream

but I was awake

and the voice from

the wind spoke

‘have another jack and coke’

and I listened

and then I poured another

then, another…

as I lay my head

on the bar

and take a short

nap

the

hairy

spider

bites.
